Annie Hansell (Asicksik) was raised in the Alaska Native Inupiat village of Shaktoolik and moved to Anchorage in 1998. She has been a cross cultural communication and awareness presenter for 14 years. She will share stories and experiences about support received which helped her and her family navigate the final days of a loved one as well as receiving healthcare services in rural and urban Alaska. Through these stories attendees will gain insight into the main Alaska Native cultures and improving interpersonal communication as it pertains to end of life care for the patients and families.
